The Warren Bar and Burrow and Penn Cove Eatery has partnered with local celebrity chefs and major liquor companies to provide 100 complimentary meals a day to feed the service industry employees who found themselves unemployed in the wake of Coronavirus. Every night, from 7 pm to 9 pm starting on Friday, March 20, 2020, for the next two weeks, longer if the closures continue, the Warren will feature a take-out meal available to anyone with proof of bar/restaurant employment.

“We need to look out for our community who are among the hardest hit by these forced closures,” said Spencer Warren, owner of the Warren. “The majority of restaurant employees are not salaried. The people who serve you when you go out and eat are among the most vulnerable to the sudden closures.”

To limit exposure, there is a one-in-one-out policy. The meals are available one per person and accompanied by a shot while you wait, for those 21 years-old and older. The meals are made at cost, but this hasn’t stopped participating chefs on competing to outdo each other. “It is nice to know that our community is coming together in support during this, and the food we going to eat is a lot better than the Kraft Mac and Cheese I could get from the grocery,” said Dominic Caputo of Meat and Potatoes.

Donations, both financial and those of food are welcomed.  The Warren Bar and Burrow: The Warren is next to the Benedum Center in the heart of Pittsburgh’s Cultural District. It offers award-winning cocktails expertly paired with an eclectic menu featuring a mélange of sushi and quality bar food.
